france — mvnos ask to be made exempt from telecoms tax

A group of seven French mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs) have requested that the government exempt them from its planned telecommunications tax, in order to allow them to concentrate on completing the ‘investment phase’ of their business rollouts. According to a report in Telecompaper the seven firms involved - Virgin Mobile, NRJ Mobile, Transatel, Auchan Telecom, Tele2 Mobile, Coriolis Telecom and Carrefour Mobile – say the proposed tax will harm them at a crucial point in their development.
