pakistan — huawei to deploy wimax network for mobilink
Chinese equipment vendor Huawei Technologies has said it has been selected by Mobilink, Pakistan’s largest wireless network operator by subscribers and a subsidiary of Orascom Telecom, to deploy a commercial WiMAX network. In a statement, Huawei said the network will cover the central business districts of Islamabad, Karachi, Sialkot, Lahore, Faisalabad and Rawalpindi. Under the terms of the contract, Huawei will provide Mobilink with a WiMAX solution designed to help the company meet the country's increasing broadband needs.

Pakistan Mobile Communications Limited (Mobilink GSM) is a telecommunication service provider in Pakistan. Mobilink's Head office is located in Islamabad. Mobilink started operations in 1994 as the first GSM cellular Mobile service in Pakistan by MOTOROLA Inc. The company was later sold to Orascom, an Egypt-based multi-national company. Mobilink is the largest cellular service provider in Pakistan, with 31.75 million customers by March 2008.
