usa — closure in verizon’s etf dispute
US wireless carrier Verizon Wireless, jointly owned by Verizon Communications and Vodafone Group, has settled a dispute over early termination fees (ETF) ahead of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC’s) decision on a nationwide ETF policy. Verizon has agreed to pay out a total of USD21 million to plaintiffs across the country. Verizon is not admitting to any unfair treatment of customers who chose to terminate their contracts early, with company spokesman Jim Gerace saying, ‘This suit was a distraction, this was a quick way to resolve it’.
