thailand — triple t wimax pilot prepares for lift-off

The Bangkok Post reports that Triple T Broadband, the wholly owned broadband internet arm of TT&T, is preparing to launch a WiMAX pilot project for e-learning in Chiang Rai in September as part of a planned two-year THB4 billion (USD120 million) nationwide network rollout plan. A TT&T executive said Triple T had signed a contract for the supply of WiMAX equipment with US-based vendor Cisco, due to be delivered next month, in order to roll out WiMAX-based services in 21 universities.

Triple T Broadband PCL is a Thailand-based company engaged in the telecommunications industry. The Company provides data services, including hi-speed Internet or broadband Internet service using Internet protocal network (IP Network) to operate asymmetric digital subscriber line system (ADSL), and digital data network (DDN) service in both point-to-point and point-to-multipoint using virtual private network (VPN). It also offers fixed-line phone and public phone services with voice over broadband (VoBB) technology. Headquartered in Nonthaburi Province, Triple T Broadband has a subsidiary, Triple T Internet Company Limited, which is an Internet service provider or ISP.
