south africa — mtn-reliance talks ended

MTN of South Africa and India’s Reliance Communications have ended their merger negotiations. The two firms have been discussing a possible combination since late June, but have found legal and regulatory issues blocking the way to a tie-up. The combined MTN-Reliance would have controlled around 120 million cellular subscribers across Africa, Asia and the Middle East.
