usa — verizon adds 1.5m subs in q2
Verizon Wireless, the second largest US cellular operator, has announced second-quarter net subscriber additions of 1.5 million, taking its total customer base to 68.7 million. The firm says 66.7 million of these are its own retail customers, giving it the largest directly served customer base in the country. Rival operator AT&T serves more customers in total but has a greater number of accounts via wholesale providers. Verizon’s full operational and financial details for the quarter are due to be announced on 28 July.
