usa — nii holdings posts bumper 2q results

NII Holdings, the Reston, Virginia-based company with iDEN operations across a number of South American countries, has reported a record quarterly revenue for the period ended 30 June 2008 of USD1.1 billion, up 40% on the same period of 2007. Consolidated operating income before depreciation and amortisation (OIBDA) for the second quarter rose 47% to USD305 million, while net income jumped 85% to USD155 million. During the three month period NII added 394,500 net new customers across its operations in Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Peru and Chile, to take its total base to 5.4 million, an increase of 34% year-on-year. NII’s monthly ARPU was USD59, up a dollar compared to 2Q07.
