france — tele2 mobile closes in on 500,000 subscriber mark
French mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) Tele2 Mobile says it is close to breaking the 500,000 subscriber barrier, three years after launching commercial operations in June 2005. In its fiscal second quarter to 30 June 2008 the group reported turnover of EUR1 billion (USD1.55 billion) and net income of EUR12 million. Tele2 Mobile is the second largest MVNO in France behind Virgin Mobile, with 465,000 registered subscribers at the end of June, up from 450,000 three months earlier.
