philippines — globe spends usd7.9m on mobile content group
Filipino mobile operator Globe Telecom today announced the acquisition of 100% of mobile content distribution group Entertainment Gateway Group and its EGGstreme (Hong Kong) unit, from their respective shareholders for PHP351 million (USD7.9 million). The mobile content provider offers a range of value added services (VAS) including music, news and information, games, chat and web-to-mobile messaging to subscribers in the Philippines and abroad. Its overseas markets are mainly composed of ex-pat Filipino communities in Japan, US, Hong Kong and the Middle East.
